Itinerary
- 08:00 AM – The Greeting to the Sun (Qorikancha Temple):
The day begins at the ancient Temple of the Sun. The Inca and his imperial court perform the first ritual of the day, offering chants and prayers to the Sun over the original Inca stone walls. A mystical start filled with traditional music. - 10:00 AM – The Encounter of Two Worlds (Main Square / Plaza de Armas):
The ceremony moves to the heart of Cusco. Here, the Inca meets with the city’s modern authorities in a symbolic act of wisdom and heritage. The square is overflowing with colors, dances, and thousands of spectators. - 12:30 PM – The Grand Ritual (Saqsayhuamán Fortress):
We head to the impressive megalithic fortress. On the main stage, the most important ceremony takes place: the report from the four regions of the empire, the “Chicha” ritual, the sacred fire, and the symbolic sacrifice of a llama to foresee the future of the new year. - 04:30 PM – Farewell and Return:
As the ceremony concludes, the Inca is cheered by the crowd. We return to the city center with the renewed energy of the winter solstice.
Booking Note: This itinerary requires specialized logistics (transfers and numbered VIP seating). As this is Peru’s largest event, spots in the Saqsayhuamán grandstands are strictly limited and sell out fast. Book in advance!
