Full Day Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain

1. Morning Departure (5:30 AM).
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco. This departure time is planned to help you avoid the afternoon crowds while enjoying a comfortable ride on the road. The vehicle journey is approximately 3.5 hours.

​2. Restorative Breakfast (8:30 AM).
We will stop at a local restaurant for a full and warm breakfast. This is the perfect moment to fuel up and have a cup of coca tea, which helps with acclimatization.

​3. Arrival at the High-Altitude Starting Point.
The vehicle will take us directly to the start of the trail, located at approximately 4,900 meters (16,076 feet) above sea level. Most of the altitude gain happens in the vehicle, making the hike itself surprisingly accessible.

​4. The Short and Accessible Hike (10:00 AM).
Unlike other mountain tours, the hike to Palcoyo is only 20 to 30 minutes on a mostly flat trail. This short walk allows you to enjoy the surroundings without the pressure of a strenuous climb, making it ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels.

​5. Exploration and Panoramic Views.
Once at the main viewpoint, you’ll have a 360-degree view of the stunning landscape. You’ll be able to see up to three colorful mountains, the Stone Forest, and, in the right season, the Red River.

​6. Descent and Return to Cusco.
After enjoying the views and taking photos, we will begin the return trek to our vehicle. We will have lunch at a local restaurant and then start the journey back to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 PM

• ​Prior Acclimatization: It’s vital that you spend at least 1-2 full days in Cusco (3,399 m) before the tour to allow your body to adapt.
• ​Hydration: Drink plenty of water and coca tea to help prevent symptoms of altitude sickness.
