​After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, we embark on a scenic drive descending toward the fertile Sacred Valley of the Incas, a region known for its mild climate (9,416 ft / 2,870 m) that greatly aids your acclimatization process. Our first major stop is the archaeological park of Pisac, where we walk through extensive agricultural terraces built on steep mountainsides, ancient watchtowers, and royal Inca cemeteries. After the guided tour, we visit the colorful Pisac Artisan Market, perfect for shopping for authentic handcrafted textiles and silver jewelry.

​Next, we follow the Vilcanota River to Urubamba to enjoy a delicious Andean buffet lunch at a premium tourist restaurant, featuring local quinoa, Sacred Valley giant corn, meats, and fresh vegetables. In the afternoon, we continue to the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo, an extraordinary military and religious complex with original stone streets. We climb its grand terraces to reach the Temple of the Sun. To end the day, we walk to the nearby station to board the tourist train (PeruRail or Inca Rail) to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town). During the 1 hr 45 min ride, you will admire the dramatic transition into the high cloud forest. Upon arrival, our staff will escort you to your hotel.

​We wake up early in Aguas Calientes for breakfast before heading to the Consettur bus terminal. We take a 30-minute shuttle bus ride winding up Hiram Bingham Highway to reach the main gates of Machu Picchu Sanctuary (7,972 ft / 2,430 m). Here, you will experience the highlight of your journey exploring one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Accompanied by our professional guide, you will enjoy a comprehensive 2.5-hour tour through the official circuits of the citadel (Circuit 2 Classic / Panoramic Circuit guaranteed when booked 4 months in advance).

​During the tour, you will marvel at the stone masonry of the Guardian’s House, Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana sundial, Sacred Rock, and Main Plaza. Your guide will share the history, engineering secrets, and biodiversity of the area. After taking photos and finishing the tour, we take the Consettur shuttle back down to Aguas Calientes. You will have free time for lunch, shopping at the craft market, or relaxing. At your scheduled train time, you will board the return train to Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel doorstep in Cusco.

​We begin early in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco for a 2.5-hour drive through the southern valley to Cusipata. Here, we enjoy a hot Andean breakfast featuring coffee, tea, eggs, and bread to energize for the trek. We then continue by road to the trailhead at Phulawasipata, located at 15,090 ft (4,600 m) above sea level.

​We begin our guided trek toward the famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). The hike takes about 1.5 to 2 hours along a gradual trail surrounded by high-Andean landscapes, herds of alpacas and llamas, and views of Mount Ausangate. Upon reaching the summit viewpoint at 16,469 ft (5,020 m), you will have plenty of time to take photos of the colorful mineral striations and learn about its geology from your guide. Afterward, we hike back down to Phulawasipata and return to Cusipata for a warm Andean buffet lunch. We return to Cusco by 05:00 PM for a restful evening. (Note: If you prefer a less strenuous option, you can swap this trek for a cultural tour to the salt mines and agricultural terraces of Maras & Moray).
